A New Man vs. Machine Match
The first game is underway in a new match between Rybka and 3-time US champ Joel Benjamin. The match is of eight games, and Benjamin will have the White pieces and draw odds in every game. Predictions, readers? So far in game 1 Benjamin seems fractionally worse, but a draw - i.e. a Benjamin win - seems the most likely result.

Dennis Monokroussos:
Update: It might have been the likeliest result, but it's not what happened: Rybka won game 1.

This should be an enjoyable match. Draw odds is in my view much more interesting than the pawn odds we've seeen in recent Rybka vs. GM matches.

I predict a win for Rybka, but it might be very close.

Benjamin, although not a super GM, is imho an excelent opponent for engines considering his involment in the Deep Blue team. He certainly knows his computer chess.

The openings in the first two matches (I'm watching the 2nd now) indicate that he has prepared well and is able to force simplifications. Still he got into troubble in the first match.
